Presentation of I-ThERM project in the Business visit of Foreign Economic and Commercial Missions to the Region of Central Greece, 13 – 16 April 2016.

Prof. Vasiilis Stathopoulos from the Tehchnological Educational Institute of Sterea Ellada (TEISTE), one of the core partners of the I-ThERM project, included the I-ThERM project in his presentation regarding the Technological Sector R&D in the Region of Sterea Ellada, in front of the audience of the Business visit of Foreign Economic and Commercial Missions, adding to the global dissemination of the project.

The presentation of Prof. Stathopoulos, included general information regarding the I-ThERM project (i.e. duration, budget, coordinator, etc), along with the aim, the objectives, the goals and the partners of the project. The audience included mainly Economic & Commercial representatives from foreign embassies including Canada, China, Cyprus, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Rusia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Romania, Tunisia, USA, Uzbekistan etc.

The event was also attended by the Greek minister of Rural Development and Food, government representatives and numerous members of business & industrial associations.

I-ThERM 6 month project meeting held at Brunel University

The 6 month progress meeting of I-ThERM project (Industrial THermal Energy Recovery conversion and Management) was held on 25-26 February 2016 at Brunel University London, in parallel with the Brunel’s Institute of Energy Futures Industry Day and the International Energy Efficiency Network Event of Vision 2020 network. Partners of the project had the opportunity to engage with the two events and present their technological finding and research under the topic ‘Event Heat Recovery and Power Generation from Waste Heat’ held on Thursday 25 of February.

During the project meeting, several administrative issues were discussed including the nomination of external experts to join the project Steering Committee and the setting of monthly project wide teleconferences to monitor the projects implementation. Additionally the work package leaders presented the updates for each work package and decisions were taken for future work.

I-ThERM presentation during the Industry Day of the Institute of Energy Futures at Brunel University.

Prof. Savvas Tassou had the opportunity to present the I-ThERM project during the Industry day which was organized by the Institute of Energy Futures at Brunel University on Thursday 25 February 2016. The event attracted a significant number of industry contacts and over 200 participants in total. The day included a number of workshops and seminars on the Institute’s four research themes, showcasing research for existing partners, as well as building new contacts for future projects.

Additionally numerous partners of I-ThERM consortium had also the opportunity to present their finding and their technology under the Energy Efficient Sustainable Technology theme workshops.

I-ThERM presentation in Energy Recovery and Power Generation from Waste Heat seminar held by Brunel Univesity

On 25th February 2016 Brunel University’s Institute of Energy Futures will be hosting an Industry Engagement Day to showcase its research on end-use energy demand reduction, energy generation from renewable energy sources and efficient electrical power distribution and utilisation. The format will be an interesting and informative programme of short talks and seminars that address our four research Themes:

• Advanced Powertrain and Fuels
• Energy Efficient and Sustainable Technologies
• Smart Power Networks
• Resources Efficient Future Cities

The Energy Efficient and Sustainable Technologies theme will feature the I-ThERM project, with talks from five of the thirteen partners involved in this EU-funded project.
The seminar is designed to:
i) Bring together academic and industry leaders with interest in waste heat recovery and its efficient utilisation

ii) Share knowledge of both products and applications

iii) Learn of recent and emerging technology developments

I-ThERM project joins A.SPIRE association

I-ThERM joins A.SPIRE association

I-ThERM project was invited to join the broad SPIRE community by joining A.SPIRE (www.spire2030.eu ), an association formed to represent the private sector in the SPIRE Public-Private Partnership (PPP). A.SPIRE is an international non-profit association formed to represent the private sector as a partner in the Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency (SPIRE) Public-Private Partnership (PPP) launched as part of the Horizon2020 framework programme. A.SPIRE is a “guardian” of values and objectives of the SPIRE PPP which offers an integrated approach to communication and dissemination activities of all the SPIRE Projects.

I-ThERM project joined the A.SPIRE association as it is a great opportunity to take advantage from synergies with other SPIRE projects with aims and scopes relevant to the objectives of I-ThERM project in various ways including implementation, dissemination, exploitation etc.

I-ThERM Kick-Off Meeting public

The I-ThERM (Industrial THermal Energy Recovery conversion and Management) project officially started few days ago whereas its Kick-Off meeting took place on Friday 9th of October 2015, on the premises of the Centre for Sustainable Energy in Food chain (CSEF) at Brunel University in London, UK. The meeting was attended not only by all the partners, but also by a representative of the European Commission (EC) – a fact that shows the importance of the I-ThERM project for the EC. 

I-ThERM, with project number 680599 is funded under the  topic EE-18-2015: “New technologies for utilisation of heat recovery in large industrial systems, considering the whole energy cycle from heat production to transformation, delivery & use” and aims to investigate, design, build and demonstrate innovative plug and play waste heat recovery solutions and the optimum utilisation of energy within and outside the plant perimeter for selected applications with high replicability and energy recovery potential in the temperature range 70 oC-1000 oC.

The meeting started with Brunel presenting the scope of the project, the work packages, the milestones and the deliverables. After that, each partner presented their entity, their role to I-ThERM and their expectations of the project’s results. The EC representative gave a vibrant presentation regarding H2020 projects including Do’s and Don’t’s in each aspect of a H2020, along with an overview of all the EE projects that got funded under the specific call for this period. Before the end of the meeting a fruitful discussion regarding the first quarter (Q1) actions that have to take place until 31 December 2015 conducted.
